Nicely done, a elephant.

In his 3rd world country it's probably the only thing he can afford to eat.

Yup, New Zealand is a 3rd world country. Well done.

"Spelt" is the correct spelling in much of the world. Your ignorance is showing.

That's the correct spelling where I live.

I shouldn't be surprised that New Zealanders don't know anything about the more grammatically correct alternative to spelt

You mean, in the countries settled by ex-cons? Sure, nice company and a proper English to boot.

And what exactly makes it more grammatically correct? Because that's how you do it? Do you think I spell it that way to annoy you guys? Do you think I use words like "favourite" and "colour" just to get under your skin? This is the way I was taught the English language. Why is everyone making such a big deal out of the way I spell "spelt"?

AHAHHAA, that was exactly my point... unless you didn't recognize my post's remarkable similarity to your earlier post. You see, in the USA, we don't use the term "LPG" often, instead, we simply say propane, or butane, etc. Yet, somehow, it was difficult for you to comprehend the idea that different countries have different words for the same thing like an inane douchebag that you are. So, you decided to take that opportunity to bash the USA's apparent lack of environmentalism. It's ok though, I'm sure everyone is cognizant of your "superiority," or, as we like to call it in the USA, stupidity.

We have propane here too. We also have butane, both of which are LPGs. It makes little sense to order "propane" for your car during the summer or "butane" in the winter, so LPG is a much more useful term. And yes, it surprises me that Americans don't know the proper term for LPG, and it's no secret that American uptake of LPG is cars was slow, and I don't want to turn this into an environmental thread but most people are aware of Americas almost total disregard for our planet.

I'll see if I can find an article online to back it up, but I read in a magazine earlier this year that USA has had a comparatively slow uptake of LPG/propane as an automotive fuel compared to Australia, NZ, Poland, Hong Kong and others due to limited tax incentives and an indifference to environmental issues by the American public (not my words, don't jump on me about this). I can have a shuffle through my magazines but I have a pile as high as my chest to sort through so I'm not in any hurry.

Over here, we shy away from LPG due to the qualities that made the Darwin article happen.
If my old car runs rich of gasoline, I can light a smoke and think about why it's running rich, or guessing where a leak might be.
Careful attention is only needed when working on the tank, even when empty.

That is true, LPG is inherently more dangerous that petrol. However as long as you observe proper safety precautions when filling and handling it's not unsafe, and there are very few injuries resulting from its use. The people involved in this particular incident are clearly monumentally stupid.

This story reminds me of that old Pinkard and Bowden's "Propane", sung to the tune of of Eric Clapton's "Cocaine" ...

You're mixing up Australia and New Zealand. Although we may be (geographically) close, doesn't make us the same. It'd be like saying that the USA is the same as Mexico.

And yes, Australia was originally settled as a penal colony for the British. But, I don't like it when people use that as an insult and throw it back at us. I don't denounce your country for its past (the whole slaves topic), I'd prefer if you didn't do the same to mine.

And we (Australia) use the UK system of English. I'm pretty sure New Zealand does as well. "Colour", "Favourite". So I don't see why you're calling us out on our English, I could say that the American system is not "proper" English.
