I watched the obligatory midnight showing of Episode II last night and I have seriously mixed feelings. The mixed feelings applies to the entirety of the movie, I am not confused about how I felt about the dialogue. Vader's NOOOOOOOOO! was utter crap and I laughed out loud in the theatre while thinking of Futurama's Calculon.

Secondly, I didn't buy Vader's conversion at all. I had hoped that Lucas would explore the effects of moral erosion, a gradual turning to the darkside rather than one climactic moment. Further, if the primary reason that Vader turned to the dark side was to prevent Padme's death, then why the hell did he keep hanging out with the Emperor once he found out she was dead? Why wouldn't he have cut the old bastard's head off, right then and there? He promised Padme that he would overthrow the Emperor, so what was holding him back?

Well, he did, just not until the end of ROTJ.
