The rich just want to get richer. That's like your company asking you to chip in for the lease on their office space. And that office was partly paid for by taxpayer funds (in most cases).

My employer doesn't pay me on the number of desks it can fill or by how many high profile/cost corner offices it has available.

Reinventing the wheel? The M, MM, MMM system is based off of Roman numerals and therefore has been around a LOT longer than your system. Yours is the one that reinvented the wheel.

I'm glad we reinvented the wheel.

NY Jet fan here, read this this morning for a NY newspaper:

A story from the National Football Post's Mike Lombardi reported that Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis is seeking a new contract that will pay him an average of $20 million per year.

Contacted by The Post yesterday, Revis' agents, Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod, vehemently shot the report down as preposterous, wondering aloud where that information could have come from.

"We have never spoken to Mike Lombardi -- ever, not even when he worked for the Raiders," Feinsod told The Post. "Where he's getting his information I don't know, but it's not coming from our side."

It certainly isn't coming from the Jets' side, either. After all, why would someone from the Jets leak that Revis was seeking such big money?

Revis, scheduled to make $1 million this season, the fourth year of his original contract, is seeking a new deal and he is on record as saying that Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum promised him a new one before the 2010 season begins.

He is the best CB in the NFL and probably one of the top 5 players out there now but this is excessive, if and when the cap comes back no team could afford this

Umm, to villify Revis, cause a public backlash, and force his contract demands lower? I don't think that this is the case, but let's not pretend that there wouldn't be a good reason for the Jets to release this.

When Ilya Kovalchuk was demanding >$120 million from the Atlanta Thrashers they went public with it for the same reason.

I love how both sides play innocent. Agents leak ridiculous numbers like this all the time. When/if the Jets sign Revis for a "mere" $15M per year, it appears that they got a bargain in comparison.

This is the type of shit I'd expect from Scott Boras. You hear rumours like this every time a big-name player enters his contract year.

Who taught you your Roman Numerals?

M = 1000
MM= 2000
MMM = 3000.

One million in Roman Numerals would be either M with a line over it or (M).

There is no cap.
Gotta make the coin when he can before the cap gets reinstated.

S&D in a uncapped year. Ask for what the market can bare, because odds are, everybody else is.

I did not expect it to be totally true, hence the "reportedly" but it is the start of a good conversation. Just how much money is he worth considering he is the best CB in the NFL? Dunta made $10MM last year, Darrelle is easily entitled to more.

As a Jets fan, what is he worth per year? I am a Bears fan and I would say he is worth around $12MM or so per year.
