So I was using my computer this morning - just browsing the web - and suddenly the screen went blank (but the computer was still on - fans and everything were running) and so I powered it down. I turned it back on and there is no signal to the monitor. I've done this several times and no dice. The fans and everything come on and there is brief hard disk activity but no video at all. Is it possible that this is a video card issue? I don't have another card that I can swap out to test this theory...

Is it the computer in your signature? If not, what is it and how old?

If you reboot, do you get anything at all on the screen? Are you sure your monitor is OK?

Sounds like it could be your video. Since that motherboard doesn't have onboard video, there's no easy way to test this, short of trying it in another PC or getting a new card.

You could probably rule out some things by removing all non-essential components from the PC and replacing them one by one, restarting the PC in between each. Make sure and test the memory one stick at a time.

Are you getting any post beeps?

You could try reseting the video card, maybe you got excited or something and your foot lashed out and upset the contacts?...LOL, far fetched, however reset sometimes works.

Okay SOLVED

Tried re-seating it and moving it to a different PCI-E slot and it didn't work. Went out and bought a cheap Geforce 8400 GS and popped it in and it booted right up. RMA'ing the 8800GTS to EVGA - I'm kind of surprised that it is still under warranty. Thanks for the replies guys - cheers!
