I am going to a conference / training at that time period and none of the hotels have space.. and i just realised why..

MACWORLD!

Bloody hell. I want to walk to the EPA offices 75 Hawthorne street, SF. So question is - where else can I try. or maybe a good hotel with good night life.

I can spend 140/night thanks to State Goverment Per Diem.

So.. any help? Name some hotels.. damn hilton on O'Farrel street is taken already :( I stayed there the last time.

Stayed at the Hyatt by SFO a couple of months ago. Nice hotel and they seem to have a lot of vacancies.

Look for a bed & breakfast instead of a hotel. Maybe some AT'er will put you up for the night.

if you're feeling brave there is a ymca in the tenderloin. guaranteed nightlife!

edit: sorry that's not very helpful. last time my friend was here they stayed at Hotel Mark Twain. It was a pretty decent hotel, and probably off the radar of expedia and the like.

Yeah hotwire is probably your best bet this late in the game - couple 3.5 star hotels in your price range nearby.

I searched both Expedia and hotel.com for those dates and got lots of options within a few blocks of your address. Some are less than your per diem rate, some are slightly more, some are WAY more...

Another vote for hotwire! Before I moved to the Bay Area, I usually used Hotwire or risked the name your own price feature on Priceline.

Stay in Berkeley and BART over to SF in the morning?
That probably wouldn't be as fun, unless he wants to go and party with all the Cal students...
