he pretty much sucks...although he's getting better.

he fumbles the ball away about 50% of the time.

most likely caused by lack of confidence on the floor.. not because he can't handle the ball correctly

It's a cyclical thing, but I still side with Brown. He obviously couldn't have done any better last season by playing him more...the kid got a ring and is getting paid, he'll get more time when he's ready.

But kids will be kids, he'll whine and demand a trade, blah blah blah.

You would too if you were worried every time you got in the game that this was your time to prove yourself, and that one mistake is going to get your ass sent back to the bench. He's on a very short leash with Coach Brown.

Darko has looked promising whenever he's gotten meaningful minutes. it may not be right that he doesnt' give 110% even in garbage time(especially considering the millions he makes), but remember he's a 19 year old kid from another country.

there was an article a few weeks back when Larry Brown said that he and Darko had a good talk about everything. LB said he realized that he thought that the fans were patronizing him whenever he would enter the game or do something small. he'd get an ovation coming off the bench in garbage time. whenever he'd get a rebound, fans would go crazy. he didn't realize the fans were/are eager to see him excel. it seems more like a cultural thing he didn't really understand. you would never see him even smile, which to me, showed that he wasn't comfortable out there.

to get into the basketball aspects, i really think he'll be an above average center in a few years. he's got quickness and agility for a 7 footer. he can shoot the outside shot almost to the 3pt line (supposedly he has 3 point range, but i doubt we'll see that soon, under LB). his frame is large and given his youth, he can pack on some more weight (and possibly even grow). his passing is above average for a center, imo. in the post, he's looking to pass first almost to a fault.

Brown is a mentally handicapped imo when it comes to youth. He didn't want to play Prince as a rookie but reluctantly did in the playoffs, just in time to help the pistons win. And he wouldn't play James in the olympics, and in the games I saw, the USA team was at its best when he was on the floor.

I think there is a belief that dumars won't trade him tho because of the anticipation that brown won't be around much longer and darko will finally be able to more opportunities on the court.

Well said...Darko is project player w/ a tremendous upside. He has already packed on 35 lbs in muscle in the last 1.5 years. Remember Lamar Odom...he was about 210 lbs in college. Darko's minutes will increase as this season progresses, I think. And people will see that he is pretty damn good and is going to get a lot better.

Luckiest mofo in the NBA. Played 5 minutes in rookie season and is one up on Malone and GP in the championship ring catagory.

Don't forget to mention he broke his wrist or something during the last minute of the finals and continued to play. This guy is a warrior!

Rick Carlisle coached the Pistons during Prince's rookie year.

He is young. He was 18 his rookie year and is 19 now. It also takes 7 footers longer to develop than smaller guards and forwards. Remember Yao Ming was 22 his rookie year, David Robinson was 24 his rookie year, Shaq and Duncan were both 20/21 their rookie years.

so next year Darko will be dominating the NBA like Shaq & Duncan when they came into the league! I say make a trade for him while he's still developing. He won't be playing much as long as the Wallace's are taking up the forward spots. Jermaine O'neal real didn't play much until he got traded to Indy.

Darko will have his chance in Detroit. All indications point to Larry Brown retiring after this season. I'm pretty sure the next coach will be more willing to play Darko than LB has. Also, Ben and Rasheed are relatively old.
