I just finished setting up a Logitech Performance Mouse MX. It's a wireless mouse, and while the button placement and overall build quality are excellent by themselves, the major selling point is Logitech's Darkfield laser, which can supposedly track on most surfaces (excluding mirrors) - even glass.

I was a bit skeptical. I figured it would indeed track on glass, but probably be a bit spotty or finicky depending on the lighting in the room, how far away the next surface was under the glass, etc. To make a long story short, the tracking is absolutely perfect on my glass desk. I'm extremely impressed.

That, combined with the fact that the mouse is wireless but has a micro USB port in the front so you can charge it while still in use easily makes this my favorite mouse. Thumbs up, Logitech.

I have a glass desk. It would be nice if I didn't have to use a mouse pad. Does the new Logitech G700 also incorporate this new technology?

I have both the Performance MX and Anywhere MX. They are awesome, I use my Anywhere MX almost.. everwhere, in bed, on the couch, glass desks. :)

I use my performance MX on my glass top desk, ... the deal is the glass needs to be (if I remember correctly) either 1/8 or 1/4 inch thick for it to work.

Thought I'd add my own 2 cents since i got one as a gift.

It doesn't work on thin desk protector clean plastic mat that is for sure, it needs thick glass.

This mouse is better than your standard cheap dell oem mouse sure, but its got issues for such an expensive mouse. The thumb buttons are horribly placed, they are so far up you have to loosen your grip to reach them, then the zoom button is the first thing you'll stumble on since it is right below the forward and back keys, if you use any of these for games you'll miss or find hitting them to be a chore. Other logitech mice whether mx rev or g9 etc had the thumb buttons right near your thumb...where they should be. the tilt wheel...the left and right scroll feature has no tactile feedback, you mash and hope, my g9 and rev both have distinct feedback on the wheel tilt. the usb charging is a nice option, but it is fiddly, and looks delicate, and not a good solution compared to a dock. plugging in a usb cord constantly into a mouse is not my idea of fun.

build quality/looks better than the mx1100, it is on the level of the mx rev for that, but its not really well thought out in the end.
