I just finished watching this anime after a recommendation from a friend, and I'm so confused. What is the conclusion? What choice did Hei make? What truly was Amber's plan? I assume it was not just destroy all of Japan and stop them from destroying contractor's? What is with his sister?

I think I just watched this show without paying attention to any of the details because while I'm usually quite good at even complex plots, I just didn't understand what was really going on here. Someone please fill me in.
