Anyone else miss this Sega CD strategy classic?

I've looked at reviews for Fire Emblem for gamecube lately, and it looks like the gameplay is pretty similar. Can anyone confirm this?

You'd be better off with the Fire Emblems for gameboy advance or Jeanne D'arc for PSP

I've never played Dark Wizard (I did have a Sega CD though :Q). But Fire Emblem for the GC kicks ASS. I haven't played the GBA versions in their entirety, but they are the same basic concept. The Advance Wars series is also great, but lacks some of the RPG elements of Fire Emblem. One of the distinguishing characteristics of Fire Emblem is that once a character dies, they're dead for good. That really affects the way you fight, it forces you to be more strategic. You can always restart the level to get your guys back, but some of the later levels take an hour or longer - you don't really want to have to replay an hour to get your guy back.

Shining Force III on the Saturn is also excellent, but hard to find unless you go the emulation route.
