Dark Streak across LCD

Not very good with LCDs, and i am not sure what to google on really. Could someone please help me out on this, as I am not sure what this dark streak within the highlighted black box is, i just noticed it today when i turned the monitor bg from black to grey.

Is this some internal defect or something that happened maybe because of heat?

Dell 19" LCD right?
We have one with a similar dim streak at work, seems to be just a defect in that one screen.

No, its a 17" Ultrasharp 1703FP, and its already been 1.5 months past Dell's 3 year monitor warranty. Think they will accept a RMA on this despite the ended period?
