Dark spot/residue on motherboard CPU socket (MSI X99A Raider)

Hello all,

I've just started my first computer build and I've already hit a small issue. When I opened up the motherboard's CPU slot, I immediately noticed a dark spot among the pins. I have no idea what it is - it appears to be some kind of dark-colored residue between a few of the pins. Perhaps even a small insect or something? Is it possible that this is something that is supposed to be there? For obvious reasons, I'm reluctant to poke or prod anything. For reference, I'm using the MSI X99A Raider. I've linked to a couple of pictures below, although they probably won't help too much. Anyone have advice on how to proceed? Again, it's my first build, so I'm being rather cautious. Thanks!

those pins look like are burned. return to the store, if you try cleaning and dont work they will say is you fault.

Ended up being some kind of foam debris. Was able to nab it by dislodging it a little with a straightened stable and grabbing it with tweezers. Thanks all!
