Huh? Where did I state that this genre isn't one I like?
I loved this genre, hated the game.
Guess reading comprehension wasn't your strong point.

Edit: I was expecting difficulty of ninja gaiden 2 in an rpg format with how the pc community hyped this up. Instead, game wasn't hard, combat system consisted of me zweihanding everything with r2 r2 win. And I found no weapon better than the first weapon I picked up which defeats the purpose of looking for a new weapon. They could have added better 2 handed swords...
It had already been easy enough using my starting mace as well....

Different game completely but it's pretty cool with mods. That said, you want something that will be more fun than just a pretty landscape. You'll prefer dark souls more.

You missed the part where you played through the entire game even though you were bored.

You can beat the game with any weapon. There are videos of people playing through the game with just a club. Try that, noob.
If you want a mindless grindfest, play Diablo. If you want a pretty new outfit, play World of Warcraft. Clearly you missed the point of this game.

Also, it has way more weapons than Ninja Gaiden which you compared it to, not to mention is a completely different genre.

Keep on trollin'.

While the difficulty is part of Dark souls, it is not the essence of it. IMHO the best parts of souls game are exploring the world, its atmosphere and the way souls game tell its story. The dread at exploring the unknown, with enemies lurking in the dark being able to kill you in two hits but still can't help but to admire the surrounding and wondering at the story behind the place.

I was expecting a game that actually had challenging combat...
You're mad because I didn't find the game challenging and thought the "This game is so HARD!!!" hype was stupidly unwarranted. I could beat the game with any weapon you're right. I wouldn't go through it a second time with another weapon though when the first time already had been that boring.

I feel like I missed this part and this is the part I would have enjoyed more. I didn't enjoy the combat, I thought it was repetitive and simplistic. Maybe other people found it brutally challenging but I simply didn't. I LOVED looking around the world though, but my PC was old at the time (Gaming Laptop) so I missed out on more detail. I pulled the game up on my new PC and upped the settings on my DSFix to a much higher visual fidelity and loved how the visual improvement. Wouldn't change much for me as I said, but I like pretty environments and Dark Souls does have some cool environments to look at.

well it looks like setting mouse UI to 0 in dsmfix lets the mouse function....that does, however, leave your pointer on the screen, which is annoying, but workable

There is a new Steam version of a DSMFix DLL released a few days ago. It works with the latest non-GFWL beta. Mouse movements are much smoother. The mouse cursor can be disabled through DSFix. I'm using 2.3, the latest Steam friendly version. You really don't need the cursor. I find navigating the menu with the keyboard with be much quicker/easier. I'm at work right now and can't pull up the URL for the latest DLL, but you can easily do a Google search on it.

Another thing I should note: If you use an nVidia card, use nVidia Inspector to add "DarkSouls.exe" to the existing Dark Souls game profile. The existing profile uses the GFWL "Data.exe" to detect the game, so none of the nVidia profile settings will do anything otherwise. I also added AFR2 SLI rendering since it works great without any artifacts. It spreads the load over all 4 of my GPUs.

I played the first one for about 20 minutes. Got to the first boss and quit. He kept throwing things at me and was hard to hit. I mostly play LIE DOWN games though. I like a gaming experience to be like a movie where I occasionally press some buttons.
