Thought everyone had forgotten that TV series.

Wow, not really surprised that they're doing a remake. Wasn't this like a supernatural soap opera mid 60's and had a huge cult following? I remember watching the movie version of this series and reading the comic strip in the newspaper too.

The company that owns the t.v. series video rights, MPI Home Video, is just 3.5 miles from where I live.

My mom loved watching the original series, but she never cared much for the other ones.

This is actually old news though; I heard of this awhile ago. I do wonder if Depp would do a good job as Barnabus Collins.

Yup, according to wikipedia, both Depp and Burton are big fans.

If you hurried you could get home just in time to watch the original after school.

and they're both friggin clowns. another piece of garbage from those two. Depp tries to look like such a cool guy but he just can't resist slopping on the makeup and talking with a lisp. Make a good movie for a change, you douche

I know I'm in the minority here but I really enjoyed The Ninth Gate.

now that I know it is a comedy, I'm kind of looking forward to it. Kind of an adult Adam's Family.

Funny I saw the trailer on Ellen yesterday. Which isn't a show I'd normally ever see. I thought the name sound familiar.

Sure enough there were two different episodes of This American Life that touched on it. Here's one of them from '97. http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/74/conventions?act=0

I just so happened to of started last year listening to every single episode of This American Life in order and am still only in the mid-100 range after about 6 months of listening to them on my drive to and from work each day (usually). There's over 400 episodes.

Great, another Burton + Depp movie that won't be any good but everyone will be so in awe of how awesome and artistic it is. Burton hasn't made a good movie since Batman.

Does anyone other than Emos/Goths (13 year old girls) like Tim Burton/Johnny Depp movies anymore?

Well that was 13 years ago :/

and Polanski vs. Burton =

What he said. Ninth Gate is old, almost a classic. And it had the Polanski behind the wheel. Not Tim "I make movies that are basically goth fan fiction where Depp tries to bang my wife" Burton.

Why? Netflix is fucking awesome. Of course they have it.

Probably bought the rights years ago on the cheap and now that there is a renewed interest they have a reason to put it up to stream.

yeah but the Ninth Gate was an atrocity. (and I love Polanski's work)

Also, Johnny Depp is quite good:

Dead Man
Public Enemies
Ed Wood
Donnie Brasco
Fear and Loathing
Edward Scissorhands
etc...

He does have quite the range.

Compared to what Depp does now, The Ninth Gate was a masterpiece :) It's been a while since I've seen it but I thought it was interesting enough and done well to be a decent watch.

And of the movies you listed, only Public Enemies is less than 15 years old :/

Edward Scissorhands

I know you weren't the one that was smack talking Tim Burton saying that Batman (1989) was his last good film, but Edward Scissorhands is also a Tim Burton movie, and it came out after Batman. :p Only by one year, but close enough!
