Is this normal? Playing at 1280x1024 on a 19" monitor for now. Hoping to jump to a 24" soon.

I have all the other settings maxed but after trying to switch the Graphics in the advanced menu to High, it always defaults back to *Med.

Here are the main components:

WinXP Pro
Intel Core2 Duo 6600
Intel P965LT
2048 MB of Mushkin HP2-6400 4-5-4-11 (#996533)
EVGA 8800gts (97.02 driver/It's the latest NON beta)
Western Digital Raptor 150 GB
Creative Labs X-Fi XtremeGamer Pro

Doesn't sound right, but I can't confirm. I'm running 1680x1050 on a 7800gt.

I read Dark Messiah had some problems with high settings with some video cards, that's being fixed in the next patch I believe, could be why its defaulting to medium setting.

My 7600GS did the same thing until the latest patch.. Wasn't in the fix log so who knows why it was corrected?

At 1680x1050, I run 16xHQAA/16xAA/HQ/Supersampling transAA, and highest settings in-game. Its buttery smooth.

I havent had any strange visual issues.

Don't mean to raise an old thread from the dead but I have the same issues. The game will run when defaulted to medium settings but if I try and turn the eye candy up at all, 4XAA 4XAF it completely locks up on me and won't boot past the ubisoft page. I'm running at 1024 X 768 so I figured there shouldn't be any reason I couldn't run on max settings with the 8800GTS. The rest of my specs are listed below, I just updated to the latest forceware drivers. Also I'm running this from Steam so I assume it is the latest patched version but haven't verified that yet.

Any ideas?
