Hello all,
I recently put together a new system with an ASUS P6X58D-E mobo.
My idle temps seemed kinda high (45-47C, using Hyper 212+) so I wanted to reapply thermal paste and adjust the HS/F so I disassembled that. When I took the HS/F and CPU off, I noticed that one of the gold contact pads that's connected to a CPU pin on the mobo is slightly darker colored compared to the rest of the pins/pads.
The pin itself is still fine from what I could tell. I used a flash light and carefully inspected every pin and none are bent from what I saw. It's just that gold pad is dark while the rest are reflective gold looking.
I put everything back together and my comp posts/turns on fine. I'm just concerned this is a sign of some damage or possible an issue in the future.
Anyone have any insight on this?
Thanks.
