This place is bad ass, it's an old school type barber shop where you can get a straight razor shave. As soon as you walk in the offer you a beer from the fridge, or you can even pour yourself a Jack & Coke if you want. They also have a magazine rack + boxes and boxes of old Playboys to look at. I went for the 1st time last week and both the barbers working that day were real cool. They were shooting the shit with the customers while a Dirty Harry movie played on the 2 TV's. I've never had a straight razor shave with the hot towels and the whole nine. I really liked it, he spent about 25 minutes on it and went thru 5 towels. Anyone in the SD area who's likes a good hair cut this is a good choice. I'm posting this because it's not easy to find a place that will do a straight razor shave. I know I've been looking all over So Cal for a spot to get a good cut + a shave. Outside of the old school vibe, the beer and porn, the haircut and shave both came out really good. It's not exactly cheap, but if you care about your appearance I don't think a $6 cut from Cost Cutters will do it. If you just want a whatever cut there's always Cost Cutters for you.

Came to $46 for the cut and shave, he spent easily an hour on me, so it wasn't really that expensive in my opinion. I'll be going back once a month.

$552 a year seems a little steep for haircuts and a few beers, plus a few glimpses at some playboy mags.

I'll stick to my $12 hair cuts every 3-4 months and save the beer and porn for home.

I tip $6 or so, so it'll come out to at least $624 for me, but whatever floats your boat.

Oh, and I live in Riverside so that's another $240'ish a year in gas lol

La Mesa ... or Mesa? Sorry OP but I thought you were talking about Mesa, AZ. Been there ... done that and other than being flat ... that's all I can say about Mesa.
