Hi all I recently bidded and won an eBay auction. I am quite skeptical. The 15 positive feedback is quite low. The price seems too good to be true. The person selling me the notebook has given me his phone number, and his work number. He lives in Augusta, Georgia at Eyeglass World as the doctor of optometry.
He has allowed me to use Paypal Credit Card. Currently I am waiting for that cheesy "expanded enrollment" program. Which I don't believe I have to use.
What do you guys think?
Auction HERE

Specifications:

T40 2379D6U

PM 1.4GHZ
256Mb Ram
40Gb 5400RPM
SXGA+
Radeon 9000
no wireless (but on the IBM website wireless is included).
DVD+/RW drive
WinXP Pro
4 year warranty 1 year IBM + 3 year MACK

It's recertified\reburbished, meaning it probably has a 90 day or 1year warranty from IBM, and the rest through MACK, some 3rd party warrantier.

I donno, seems good enough. Gave you multiple contact infos. Let you pay Paypal via credit card. Ask him for a picture of the model number and serial number from the bottom of the laptop.

But is it really all that great of a deal? I though the high end 1.6 Ghz bluetooth\802.11AB\9cell battery ones went for a little under $2k. This is referb (or recert), and the T41 has been out for a little bit...

Still a good deal, I'd take it for that price 🙂

Well considering I just bought a T41\1.6Ghz\256\802.11B\6cell battery for 1850 I sure hope they don't sell for that cheap as I couldn't find it
Also I agree this price isn't TOO low, also see if he's willing to allow return

T40 referbs on eBay seem to be abundant. I just missed out on a bare bone T40 (no mem, cd\dvd, or hd) but had a P-M 1.6, 1400x1050, 802.11AB, Bluetooth, and all the other bells and whistles for $1100.

I was going to chime in also that T40's with those spec's @ 1320 doesn't seem out of line at all. You certainly did get a nice deal but I wouldn't be concerned about the price being "too low".

I think that's okay. Who knows, maybe this guy doesn't care. A month ago, I posted that I bought a Thinkpad T40 for 750 or so. I thought it was too good to be true or hot. Turns out, the guy was an idiot and had no idea what he was selling me. Go for it!
