Dangers of the internet!

You have to give a 50 minute presentation to college students in an auditorium. The presentation is titled "potential dangers of the internet". What are the topics that you would discuss? And.......GO!

I'm thinking usually kids who are left unattended who are tricked into meeting people from the internet.

I read this one story where this girl stole hundreds of dollars from her mom and flew to Tenesee or something to see this one guy she met online.

Uh... scams (phishing, fly-by-night retail sites, etc.), predators (e.g. pedophiles going after kids), hate sites, internet addiction (not a big deal, IMHO, but might make for a lighter brief subject).

Trojans/viruses/spyware.
Giving out sensitive information.
Misinformation/biased sources (that may not be obvious).

I'd definately be doing some research on porn

seriously though, to college students? What could you possibly tell them about the dangers of the internet that they wouldn't know. Maybe something about avoiding scams like paypal/ebay phishing, how not to get ripped off on internet transactions etc.

I realize we're all computer people on here, but the typical college students knows how to turn on a computer, write a paper, and go to a website -- that's about it.

TV+porn doesn't mean porn on television.
Tranny often isn't referring to a part of a car.
Never click on a link posted in an IRC channel.
Anyone on the internet is male until proven otherwise.
