Dangers of Duron L1 bridging mistakes?

I just finished connecting the L1 bridges of a Duron with a conductive pen. I believe it is OK, but the pen traces come very close to one another between two of the bridges. If they are indeed touching, is there any danger? Should I clean it off with varsol and start again?

Thanks.

When I first did mine my computer wouldn't boot. I erased them and tried again. It worked. The only hassle was taking off and putting on the heat sink.

If you make a mistake, the only "bad" thing that it can do is set it to be read as something really high (which could end up being too hot for your heatsink to handle) and possibly burn out, but this is -highly- unlikely. I've messed up a couple of times and it'll read my 800MHz as 650MHz or something strange like that or even sometimes not turn on, but it goes back to normal after I erase the pencil markings. If your CPU doesn't work now that you've connected the bridges with a conductive pen, you can easily get a razorblade and scrape some of conductive ink away where you think they're coming close to touching.

Since I haven't seen anybody try this yet, try masking between the contacts with very thin liner tape (.5mm, available at art and stationery stores). I think then you can goop away with loctite, let it dry, then remove the tape.

Excellent idea, Lightingguy. Will try if it doesn;t seem to be working.

Thanks for the responses.

the main danger as I see it is having to reinstall those heatsinks with the killer clips....

once was enough for me.

If it doesn't work then either you will still not be able to change the multiplier or it won't boot. I have had both happen to me :)

When it doesn't boot it probably means the bridges are making contact with eachother so you need to erase/wipe off and try again.

If you can't change multiplier it means the bridges are not connected.
