Dangerous volts?

I have been adjusting the pots on my Fortron, and its been pretty weird, I adjust one and its at one point, then it slowly moves up to another voltage. Right now it seems pretty stable with the 12v line at 12.75 checked by multimeter and 5v line at 5.4. Are these dangerous? Should I adjust the pots some more?

Thanks

Hi, I assume you are talking about an adjustment pot inside a power supply. I know nothing about your particular power supply. I do have considerable experience with switching power supplies. In most adjustable supplies the pot adjusts the +5 volt output and the rest are automatically referenced to the +5. Jim

I'd drop it a bit if I weare you. You want to keep the 5 volts to within 5% which is 5.25.

Making adjustments to internal potentiometers in a PC power supply is not recommended nor is it necessary. There are many things you put at risk by doing this. If the voltages don't seem right or the system stability is compromised with a power supply that is otherwise operating normally, the power supply should be changed out.

Repeating: Internal adjustments should be made by authorised personnel ONLY. You have been warned!

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies,

I think the 3.3v line has its own pot, but the 5 and the 12 are on the same one.

As for why I am adjusting the pots, it is because the powersupply was undervolting to 11.3 on the 12 and 4.6-4.7 on the 5, and I didnt feel like RMAing, as that would leave me computerless for a few weeks. I am still trying to adjust them right, although they seem to be fluctuating a lot after I adjust them, any recommendations as to what to do about the fluctuations?
