Are you in Kansas or Oklahoma? It's on my bucket list to head up one Spring and chase a tornado.

Do you have a spare seat for an old guy who sometimes looks like this ?

That is sure on my bucket list as well. Maybe one day ...

As long as you can run and hold on (if need be), there's a seat. I would have to ask that you refrain from making a face like that. It's a little unnerving.

Was going to post a thread about this. They're expecting it to be pretty damn serious and personally I hope it'll just be overblown. Nice thunderstorms and tornadoes are exciting but they can get scary and deadly just way too fast to be dicking around out in one. Will be especially dangerous at night (and other than the lightning they aren't nearly as enjoyable as you can't see shit, like the awesome cloud formations).

Oh, and there was a Nova special on the 2011 outbreak on Wednesday night. Hope the guy can get some data with his new doppler system. I remember watching one of the Oklahoma ones live after someone here linked to the online feed.

Great reminder of why I'm sticking to the cold north. At least I get to keep my house on a year to year basis.

If anyone is in those areas, stay safe... Good luck, etc

There is some scary stuff going on in eastern Kansas, northern Oklahoma, and eastern Missouri, tonight.

Only the hardcore chasers go out at night, with their state of the art equipment. And idiots. If it's dark outside, stay in and stay safe.

Updated link to latest map from the SPC. Looks like Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska are at the highest risk. Hope everyone out there stays safe.

This wind map is going to be interesting for today. You can see all of the moisture getting sucked into the Plains from the Gulf.

Last night we had the tornado sirens go off about 2:15AM, scared the wife half to death, had to get up and see what the deal was. Small radar indicated tornado about 6 miles or so from our house, it was slightly NW of us, so not too much to worry about.

Lots of stuff popping up all over Kansas, some moving into southern Nebraska.

They think the worst will come late this afternoon, early evening. Already asking amateurs to stay home, because it could be dangerous after dark, when you can't see what's coming.

Do not worry. It is sort of`my face when i am angry.
I would be way to happy chasing a tornado.
However, if the tornado would start to chase us, i would pull the face towards the tornado. Maybe it would have some effect. :awe:

I used to be stationed just south of KC for 3 years then moved to St Louis and I hated tornado season. My roomates and I leased a house with a basement and we charged everyone who came over during an outbreak a case of beer at the door. We never ran out of beer in the spring.

Everyone out there keep your heads down and stay safe.

I'm in Lawrence, the mid eastern side of the heaviest activity and its been sunny all day. Had a few sprinkles last night, and now clouds are rolling in but no real rain to speak of yet. Going to go out and work on my car shortly, but neighbors are mowing their lawns, etc. Its super nice out and I just got done watching a soccer game my son played in.

My dad is in council grove and he said all show, no blow so far. The biggest threat is later today I think.

When I lived in Wyoming, the locals said that the wind didn't really blow in Wyoming...Nebraska sucked. That graphic shows the truth of that saying...

We are now in the bullseye. The next hour should be interesting.

2.5" hail and a tornado on the back end of the cell. Yippee.
