im on dial up and in the middle of some online games my speed is cut in half. I find this is due to XP firewall doing updates. I know this because there is that little yellow badge in the lower right corner of my screen... But I click on it and there are no options to cancel the download... nor can i find it in the process tray.

Anyone know how I can cancel the updates?

Better yet, click on the paper clip.

;)

Or go to my computer properties and go to auitomatic updates and tell it to prompt you before downloading. Hell if I know....I disabled it first thing. I'll be able to tell you when I get home in a few hours.

Or juct click on the paper clip.

right click my computer, click properties, click automatic updates tab, uncheck keep your computer up to date.

I dont smoke crack.

I know how to uncheck auto update. And by Grabthor's hammer, I swear that the firewall was updating and not XP.

Its the oddest thing. Must be SP2... yeah

The yellow shield means that windows is downloading Windows updates, not the firewall. The firewall doesn't download anything.
