Kobe goes on trial, and a book comes out. Are writers just standing by with their Word processors open to write a book about anyone?

don't believe everything u read...
this is a boo-hoo sympathy piece that reads in his favor. its true cred is fudgy.
his life is 100x better and more fortunate than most blokes so read that with a spoonful of salt.

Well do you see much point in marriage if you are going to get prenups? REALLY isn't that the point of marriage? To 'fully' trust each other and share things and not just 'hide' away and be safe and keep what you have?

I know you can get screwed in marriage and they aren't perfect and people change.....but you got to at least think you can make the marriage work and not get prenups right?

Well here in England they are illegal anyway..........

read that at school while waiting for a class. It put Kobe in a totally different light, in my view. Did a pretty good job of planting Kobe as a neglected, sheltered guy who never new the "negative" "cruel" "real" world.

I don't think it was either positive or negative... but i got a sense of pity of him from the article.

He should have gone to college. His parents sheltered him WAAAY too much (he's not allowed to watch R-rated movies?!), so even though he was 18, he certainly wasn't acting his age. People always said he was quiet and 'mature' for his age, because of his lack of involvement in typical young adult activities, but that's because he was more introverted and unsure how to act than not wanting to.

Read the article. It allows us to see a little bit of "how" he became the way he is, but it still doesn't justify it. His dad was a basketball coach who also played pro in Italy. He turned into one of those psycho-coach dads that forced his child to play basketball everyday since age 3. Most kids like that quit by the time they are 15, but Kobe took the abuse and his father turned him into a basketball machine.

This destroyed his and his families social skills. Brandy said he was a weirdo, his ex-girlfriend said she had to spend Saturday night watching videos of Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson. Now that he is a superstar and has had everything handed to him, by his family younger, and now by the United States as an adult, he thinks he can pick and choose whatever he wants.

This article leaves no doubt in my mind that he raped that girl. I know it's my own ignorant fault that I assumed Kobe was this inner city street thug basketball king that messed around with some white chick with jungle fever. But, now I see that he is some psycho basketball Italian who gets everything he wants and is worshipped by his sisters and family.

I think the most interesting point of the article was his version of the story:

But early on in the encounter, Bryant became anxious that he wasn?t using a condom, afraid that he might get the young woman pregnant, according to the sources close to Bryant. At some point, she started yelling for him to stop?which he did, the sources say?but she kept crying hysterically and was insistent on leaving. Bryant started to panic and tried to keep her from leaving until she calmed down, the sources say. He attempted to put ice on her eyes, which were swollen with tears, and pleaded with her to stay and talk. But she insisted that she had to go back to the concierge desk. Bryant asked her to return, and she told him she would. She never did. The next thing he knew, the county sheriff was asking him to go to a local hospital and provide a DNA sample.

If that really is his version, then that just doesn't make sense. That woman had to be crying hysterically for a reason, and i don't buy it she was acting that way just because he didn't have a condom (and he stopped). Either he did rape her from the moment she stepped into the room, or it was consensual until she discovered he didn't have a condom, and didn't want to continue, but he forced it. Either way it's rape.

and her version was that he acted like a serial rapist, attacking her and violently raping her as soon as she got in the room.

The truth is somewhere in between.

magic johnson learned the hard way what sex w/o a condom can do.
can't determine whose story to believe until we hear the evidence and even then...

it didn?t help that he preferred early on to change away from the others in the locker room and disappear under his headphones in the back of the team plane. After games on the road, instead of hanging out with the team, he would sit in his room and watch videos. Sometimes it was ?Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,?

how many times can you watch willy wonka and the oompa loompas... seems like his own team disliked him and thought he was arrogant, but he doesn't seem like a punk either.
