We have a 101" screen and a blu-ray player in the home theater room for a reason. Stop getting the regular DVDs!

Who buys movies anyways (regardless if its DVD or Bluray...)

I buy stuff I like, but usually not movies. I have most of the Twilight Zone, every Betty Boop known to exist, LoTR, Mr Bean, and a bunch of Monty Python, and a handful of other things; mostly vintage cartoons. I still need to get TNG, MASH, and Northern Exposure. There's probably some others I'd like to get, but the above covers the essentials. I don't care about quality. You could cut DVDs in half quality wise, and I'd still be happy with it. I like seeing what I want, when I want, and without restrictions. Buying the media gives me that.

Fortunately for you 5TB HDDs are debuting in Q4 this year.

For others the quality between a compressed 720p(500MB for 42 minute TV show) and an uncompressed 1080p isn't that perceptible at a distance.

Not quite there yet

I guess I'll have to be more specific the next time she runs errands for me. And to think she left the kitchen for this

Are they? Good to know. I wonder what the performance times will be...

WDC Reds and Greens will be the first out...

I loled at that

Seriously. 100" is as big as I could get over the fireplace. It's 1080p and I sit about 12' from it and I hate the way it looks sometimes. I'd love 4k just to get more pixels thrown up in the same area. I can't imagine how shitty a 720p throw would look at similar size and distance.

And 1% of 1st world at that.

I am no where close to 1% and I can afford:

$450 projector

$55 BRD player
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA1CZ0SG7868

Heck, I bet you can get this stuff used for HALF. Let's check eBay.

$150 shipped projector

$22 shipped BRD player

People need to stop with this 1% crap.

I assume if he's doing BD he's got a 1080p projector, which typically run in the 800+ range.
