Dang it! Someone spammed the Android Market

I was searching for live wallpapers. I've searched for them many times and just searched for "live wallpaper". I always got plenty of good results. Now its full of spam by 2 or 3 people. I'm not sure if its Google's new search or if these guys just got a bug up their butt.

Why the heck can't Google filter by most popular or....something??? Appbrain thinks my phone only has 1.6, so it won't let me download live wallpapers.

I've always considered the openess of the Android Market to be a great thing - the Apple app store is really annoying to try to submit apps. It's tedious and slow - and compared to the specifications for submitting to the Android Market, submitting anything to the Apple app store is like trying to get a building permit in communist Poland (although, truth told it's almost as hard even nowadays in democratic Poland, but I digress).

All that said, a bunch of people spammed all kinds of crap on the Apple App store too - glacial approval process notwithstanding, I guess. Ebooks, are the obvious one - take a book with a public copyright and then make a simple ebook app around it and submit it... there have to be thousands.

There is more than a small bit of irony in the fact that searching the Google Android Market isn't very good.

Yea, those country flag garbage live wallpapers for 2.99 pounds... spam! And probably steals your contacts, bookmarks, sms, etc too.

It'd be so much easier if you could ignore developers on the market. Just ignore that spam dev(s) and it'll filter 90% of the crap from the search.

And yea, Market search sucks.

Yea, the market is full of crap, hopefully google can implement something to cut them down.

It is irritating. They need a better search system with filters and categories. The current system sucks.

it annoys me to no end. Its taken this long just to get suggestions. Now if they could just figure out how to rank the results. Its silly for Google to not be able to do this.

why does appbrain thing you have 1.6? what phone are you using? have you tried the market fix?

using a myTouch running Froyo (CM RC2.3). Market fix in Titanium or a different one?

its in titanium now? i had to manually edit the build.prop file

was in issus with CM6 i think all RCs where the market would think you were running the wrong version of the OS, you coudl change it to 2.1 to see aps 2.2 wouldent however that shoudl be getting fixed on the market end with 2.2 coming out
