I owe the GF a wii. She was in a series of interviews for a new job and I said I'd get her a Wii if she got it.

Oh well, its only like 350 and watching a girl play Wii from the comfort of the couch is entertainment enough for me.

350 is of course for the system, another controller and probably game.

I haven't seen any on the store shelves at all.

I heard there should be more coming out in April, hopefully they will be easier to find.

I was at an EB Games store today (East Towne Mall, Madison WI), and the clerk said that they hadn't received any Wii's in three weeks, and weren't expecting any more for at least two more weeks.

I've been looking for one since launch day. :(

Depends on market I guess...I am in South Florida which is a pretty populated place...the corner EB Games or whatever it is has them in stock always.

They are always trying to sell my wife on it. She likes that fishing thing with Zelda.

They're rather plentiful around here. I'd buy and sell them at cost to ATers, but it really doesn't pay. $250 + ~8% sales tax + shipping results in the system costing about $295.

its actually 250 and the remote is like 50 bucks for both the wii controller and nunchuck together(you need both)

250 + 50 + 50 for game = 350

I heard a guy in my class yesterday say that he had just driven >50 miles to get a Wii. I had no idea that they were still that hard to find. :p

That's because Nintendo's new fiscal year starts in April and there's a decent amount of speculation that Nintendo is purposely releasing smaller amounts because they've already met their fiscal goals for the year. So the splurge of more Wiis in April would be to help boost the 2007 fiscal year amounts.

Don't bother with EB/Best Buy. Most of the time they hold their stock for Sundays. Targets and ToysRUses release stock as soon as it arrives (most of the time. sometimes they will do a Sunday sale. Check your local flyer or call the store). From speaking to EB employees they usually get 5 or less at a time. Targets I have talked to have gotten 30-50 units at a time. Best thing to do is watch the Sunday flyers and if you're desperate enough call everyday. If you call Target ask to speak to someone in the electronics and not the operator. In case you are wondering, I wanted one badly a couple months ago and scored one. This info is all a result of my homework. Good luck.

"cheapdude" has a personal shopper?

Why not, at least I don't have to wait on line to get mine. Just call them up and tell them I want a Wii, they let me know when its ready for pickup.

I want to get a Wii, but I'd also need a decent TV to play it on. My 19in CRT TV won't do it justice. And playing my 20in LCD monitor might prove to be a PITA with the Wiimote.

Rumors are Nintendo is holding back supply until this quarter finishes. Apparently they made their sales targets and are pushing the bulk of it into next years numbers.

Shipments should start rolling out April 1st with it hitting retail shelves less than week later.

Longview WA here. Have never seen on in stock. Have looked as far north as Centralia and as far south as Portland. Not saying you couldn't do it if you camped out or something...but they are HARD to come by here.
