Its a competitive version of LoL. It has kind of a darker theme to it, and better graphics. Community is pretty rough though (stay away from the forums if you don't want to deal with it), and there is a lot of sh*t talking and whining/crying in games. I prefer it over LoL, but I've had so much of it from playing DotA for years and another year or so in HoN, I don't play much anymore. $10 is a really good deal though for anyone who has been thinking about getting it.

Yep. People who played DOTA and actually enjoyed it will end up enjoying HoN.

I wish they would make heroes a lot faster though. They should just port all the heroes over. They're missing like 20 heroes that really were awesome. They still don't have a drow, huskar, phantom assassin, lancer, tauren chieftain, phoenix, twin head dragon, obsidian destroyer, oblivion, dark seer, invoker, goblin techies, shadow priest(dazzle), tormented soul, windrunner, panda, keeper of the light, enchantress, furion, etc.

So many heroes they need to add...

I was never able to get into HoN, there was just too much going on on the screen. The spells were too busy and made team fights insanely hard to follow. That said HoN has effectively killed the North American Dota scene so if you want to get into a Dota like game HoN is the one until Valve and Icefrog release Dota 2. $10 is better then the $40 I paid for WC3 to play Dota with haha.

I played during the beta, but I couldn't get into it, because people were just being assholes. I mean, you'd join a game marked for new players (1500 rating, I believe it was), and they'd gripe about anything. I remember this one time where one of my teammates left me alone at bottom (when no one needed help) and then a whole enemy group came in.

HoN for 10 bucks is a steal. Literally hundreds of hours of enjoyment. It's a huge step forward from DotA and leaps and bounds better than that crappy League of Legends game.

The community feedback is a big 'no' - don't need nasty people - but it sounded interesting to look at.

As League of Legends becomes more popular, a wider range of people join with a whole plethora of different characteristics...good and bad. I do prefer playing with my friends versus random pick up groups for this reason. Luckily, they just revamped the leaver repercussions.

To get back on track, how is Heroes of Newerth 2.0? I am tempted to jump back in because it runs on both the Mac and Windows based computers.

Honestly it tends to be a lot of people not truly deep into DotA early on so I didn't get yelled at when I was learning. From what I have heard HoN is for people really into DotA games so most know how to play right off the bat and are abusive toward new players. At least I've never been yelled at for doing something sumb in a LoL match and I'm pretty bad.
