not terrible, but when run my hands through my hair violently with my head down, millions of hairs and little white specks fall out

what do I do?

Oh no... you're going to be a pariah for the rest of your life... you better get that looked at quickly.. or women will find you unattractive (well, more so) and you'll die poor and lonely..

or at least thats what I've been lead to believe..

Head and Shoulders Shampoo

Agreed. I've always had a problem with dandruff. I've been able to keep it under control the past few years by using Head and shoulders.

I recommend Neutrogena T-Gel over Head and Shoulders. It's much less abrasive IMHO. I have the driest skin ever (ezcema) so I have to use it or my scalp gets super dry.

Neutrogena is better, but I wouldn't use it every day. Its too expensive, and you get the same results using it twice a week, and using a normal moisturizing shampoo for every day use.

How often do you wash your hair? When I was a little kid I used to get dandruff cause I did it like once a week. Showering once a day has fixed that ever since.

heh, once a day for me, but I thought dandruff was caused by overwashing...
I would just wash it every other day because I bet that would get rid of the dandruff, but then my hair would be all oily

That's what the commercials tell us.

wrong, the best is the one with the most tar. Tgel only has .5%, but denorex has 3%. its the shampoo that tingles. its pretty expensive though. 10 bucks for a smallish regular size bottle. trust me, i had dandruff like that. my dermotologist said it was slight case of psoryasis (?). gave me some "tar" sample shampoos, and told me to get a shampoo that had the most tar.

or you could just shave your head.

edit: dandruff is caused by oily scalp, and when it dries, it leaves what we like to call dandruff

edit2: tip, when you shampoo ur head, don't gently massage it. you gotta be agressive and use your nails and fingers and dig at your scalp.

eidt3: http://www.denorex.com/thera-strength.htm

"Contains one of the highest levels of coal tar available without a prescription -? more than twice the coal tar found in Neutrogena T-Gel Extra Strength and five times the coal tar in the other Neutrogena T-Gel formulas."

I have started using Denorex and it seems to be helping quite a bit. I tried head and shoulders and some other one, but neither helped.

I get a lot of dandruff too, but Head and Shoulders never worked for me. My head also gets itchy a lot - is that something that goes along with dandruff? It's not lice FYI. Anything besides H&S I should try?

the best is Nizoral, and the trick is keep changing your anti-dandruff shampoo so the fungus won't be resistant to the active ingredent in the shampoo.
