Maybe this is for L/R but I'm not looking for advice. Just a brag thread I guess.
My friend Tara is having foot surgery next week, so a bunch of our friends went out to this "country music" night club called 'Wild Country'. It's like a big big country music karaoke bar. w/e
I wasn't excited to be there, but I wanted to hang out with some of the girls since they were all wanting to party and have fun.
My friend Kara, whom I've been talking to alot (as friends), who I met at my friend Alex's house, she is also friend's with Tara and she showed up. Kara and I play on the same indoor soccer league, and we've gone out to the movies a few times. No big deal.
Anyway.. I record music alot. Mess with ProTools, Wavelab, Mixcraft, etc. I plan on buying a house soon, something with a big walk out basement, and investing into a really nice Pro-Tools based recording studio (drum room, jam room, sound room, etc). I'll probably spend $100k on it.
I've always thought it would be badass to have a housewife that knew how to run all that crap so I could have fun and she could help out. (do the dishes, cook me food, mix down my jams lol).
I took Kara out to dance with her (a slow dance to some country shit), and we started talking. I knew she played piano, and she said "so.. do you like country music at all" and I said I liked some. But that I like any music that is good because I'm a musician and I can appreciate good songwriting. She asks "do you record at all?" and I said I did, but that it's hard to do alot because sometimes I just want to play, I don't want to spend all my time making backing tracks, etc.
She goes on to say that "my dad has a really nice pro-tools rig. He likes to record, has a nice studio setup. He's taught me how to use pro-tools so I can help him record stuff. I'm not that great at it, but I know how to select tracks, eq stuff, import/export stuff, play with some plugins.. It's fun and I wish I knew how to do more"
WTF!
