Dancing Icons!

P3 700 w/ CUSL mobo and G2mx Video. This just started, when you put the curser on a desktop icon it jumps away before you can click it!? Using start programs works fine and the computer works fine except the icon problem. Did virus scan, changed drivers form 23.11, changed resolution, changed mouse. My advice was to change video cards, could it be something else? Thanks!

There's a gag program that has that effect. The other thing that I've seen do that is 'focus-to-button' software in some mouse drivers. I'd get Process Viewer (part of NU2002) and see if there's an unidentified program running. Then I'd check the mouse drivers, see if they have focus-to-button available and enabled (known as something else.. it moves the cursor to buttons that appear). Beyond that, well, honestly, I have a hard time believing it's a video card issue. The video card provides display, the mouse is input. Unless the display itself is jumping, well, it's gotta be the mouse or something related to it.

It is a virus, I just cleared it from a computer, it's W32.Magistr or a variant, get a good anti-virus software or update the one you have.

Hope that helps.
