Lately on XM radio dance stations there's been a whole slew of dance songs with a retro sound that sort of mimics the synth-heavy sound of the 80s. Now there are even singers adding vocals to these tracks that sound all 80s poppish (heavy Brit accents or sounds like ABBA/Blondie.) They even have new dance songs sampling stuff from the 70s ("Don't you want somebody to love").
Some examples:
- Junior Jack - Da Hype
- Goldfrapp - Strict Machine
- George Michael's new song (well he is 80s I guess)
What do you think of this trend? Passing fad or something really cool?
