Dance Dance Revolution!

Well problem with computer is that usually you wont have a large open space to play and it's not as mobile. Not much difference in ps2/xbox other than the title selection.

Then it shoudl be ok. but for me DDR has always been a party game where everyone gets together, and thats much funner around a big TV in a living room or den. Also dont forget yo ucan take a ps2 + pads to a lot of places pretty quickly

Ok... So I think I will choose between Xbox and PS2. Which is better?

You should take a look at the library. I think the newest ones are for both so i dont thikn there is a difference between the two. I think its all personal preference.

Edit: It looks like PS2 and XBOX have different game versions. But all that is is different collections of songs. I think either of the newest ones on either machine will get you the most popular songs plus some other stuff.

stepmania for computer, just have to buy a pad and a playstation -> usb adaptor, the software is free (and songs are..."free")

Well, one thing to consider is that if you're only planning on buying one DDR title, the xbox versions have downloadable song packs. They're not free, but if you only get one title, that lets you get more mileage out of one game.

Get the PS2 version. I've got DDR, DDR2, and DDRX for it... the interface for DDRX isnt that great, but it's still got some good songs.

Anyone have an inexpensive source for the better pads?

I just got DDR for Xbox, kids love it, I suck.

If you're gonna buy pads, get the red octane ignition 2.0s. They're a bit expensive, but they're the best soft pad out there.

I was heading out to EB this morning to buy the xbox pack with the game and dance pad..... GOod timing for the thread, as im also looking for a good place to get a second non-slip pad 😀

I agree. I hae the Ignition 2.0 and it rocks. The PS2 DDR's are a bit better than the XBox ones. They have better songs, frame rates and better timings for the arrows. The Xbox arrows are a split second off beat for some reason.

Well my girlfriend's family has DDRMax2 on playstation2... I can't remember what pads they use, something like madcat pads I think...

For good prices check out www.levelsix.com and www.liksang.com they have the ignition pads that usually sell for around 100 dollars for 30-40 bucks

I was able to get two ignition type foam pads and PS/PS2 to USB dual adapter for $32 + $26 shipping off an ebay auction. The ignition pads are relatively cheap but thus far, they've been pretty nice. My old pad (one of those run of the mill cheap soft pads) got busted within like 2 months.
