A simple calculation suggests that a 25ms-response LCD can clearly display 40 black-white-black transitions per second, which is 120 frames per second if all you're looking at is alternating black and white frames.

Isn't this wrong? Isn't it just 1000/25ms= 40fps, and not 1000/25ms = 40fps X 3 (black-white-black) = 120fps.
