Hey there,

I am in the process of dampening the road noise in a 2003 Saturn VUE. I find it hard to hear
passengers in the back seat when I traveling on the highway. I have looked at insulation and
different kinds of foam. I can't spend a ton of money on this but would at least like to dampen
the noise so I could enjoy the ride a little more. The dent resistent panels are easy to off I believe.
What materials have been used, where have they been used, and how much did it cost?

Thanks for any info given.

I thinik Maaco or some place like it has something you can get done, all they really do is put the foam on there

You can totally gut your interior and dynamat the hell out of your vehicle... should solve your problem quite nicely.

However, it's pretty pricey and a huge pain in the ass.

Exactly, but you can cut the cost to next to nothing by using roofing "ice and rain shield". It comes in 3 ft wide rolls and is usually applied at the bottom of a roof under the shingles.

The big problem with this is the varying amount of tar smell that comes off these rolls. Some brands are almost smelless and others will smell forever. Hit and miss.

Hey there,

Well to be honest, my baby daughter is in the back and on long trips I would like to know if
something is wrong. I have to travel alot for work and the family comes along. The wife rides in
the back sometimes just in case for the baby in case she starts choking on something or the usual
stuff. This helps keep the driver (me) concentrated on the road.
I have thought about using the foam pad material that is under carpet along with a thick plastic
sheet for moisture protection just incase. Any more thoughts.

I know some people use some sort of tar that they apply on the body panels to reduce road noise.

Also you are probably getting lots of wind noise from the window seals. Althouhg I'm not sure how you would fix that.

Your best bet is "Dynamat" though. It's expensive, but it gets the job done.
