I always start falling for women who are already taken. it might be because those are the only women i ever seem to meet.

she is also a co-worker, has a kid, and smokes - 3 things i try to avoid...but she's cute and has a great personality.

I think that your problem is very common it happen to me often, but it's just that you don't want to have a hard time with anyone, you are to lazy and I bet that you don't even have a pet because it needs care, you can always ignore that inconvenient and try to get her, I think that you should stop trying to find girls and just try to improve yourself with that energy.
