damnit someone took the sticker off my license plate. grr

My wife goes to take my van into town. while walking around the back she notices part of my sticker laying on the ground. looks at my plate and its gone.

so someone in my town took it. we have a good idea who. one of the kids across the street is saying he seen my daughter take it off. she had her Birthday party today (5 yrs old! woot!). and NONE of the kids said they seen her around the car. but they did see the kid claiming it was my daughter.

sigh nothing i can do about it. Just pisses me off.

See if you can go to the county clerk, explain the situation and maybe...just maybe...they'll give you a new one as you have proof you've already paid. Or maybe than can give you another form of proof of registration.

I'm assuming the OP is talking about the plate renewal sticker, if so, then yes that is somewhat important

See if you can go to the county clerk, explain the situation and maybe...just maybe...they'll give you a new one as you have proof you've already paid. Or maybe than can give you another form of proof of registration.

yeah hopeing they will do that. i will have to run in tuesday (its closed monday).

but i have heard that they won't do anything about it. just give you a reduced cost for the rest of the year.

no they said it was my daughter. Who i questioned very hard and said she did not do it. Also we had abunch of kids here who said there was nobody near the van.

until we went in for dinner (after th eparty). when the kid (who is blaming my daughter) and his sister stayed outside while we had dinner.

but yeah they won't change it. they just redisgned the plates and stickers like 3 years ago.

They've been stealing inspection stickers in NY recently after the change in inspection rules. Including breaking windshields to get to the sticker.

I knew about the change in inspection rules but haven't ever heard about people breaking windshields to get the stickers. Then again, the part of NY I live in doesn't really enforce the new policies that much since no on cares.

You're from Illinois right? I just checked your DMV link here and it looks like it's 20.00 for a replacement sticker. We have the same thing in CA, it used to be 10.00 but it's probably 20.00 too.
