Had to happen eventually....

Just got a call from the Fraud dept of Amex, they did a few test charges to see if the # was valid then charged away... 2-3k in just the past week from Quest Camera.

Dunno how but they even took over my online acct, changed the shipping/billing address to theirs, AND had the audacity to call YESTERDAY and speak to a CS rep as ME.

bastards.

Already cancelled all my cards as some of them were linked. Calling the credit bureaus right now as the lady at amex said if they had access to my online acct, who knows what else they got.

Strange... Pulled my Credit Report and I see Amex ran my credit twice on Feb 28, three days before they stole my CC. Strange Coincidence?

damn that sucks. if you find out more on how they got access to your online acct, let us know. amex's security must've been compromised. Does anyone else but you use that comp? could someone have downloaded some kinda trojan by mistake?

Yep, told ya I might jinx it... Just was wrong as to the method :(

Anyway, what really bothers me is how they were able to take over my whole account without me even so much as getting an e-mail or call. I can see just stealing the CC #, but they had full access to my online account and changed everything, how could I not have been notified?

Keep us informed. This is one of my fears. I recently went online with all of my accounts.

The first thing they probably did was change the email address. Then all the "Your blah has been changed..." notices would go there.

I hope they get ht by a car.

There was room left on the card to still pay a contractor.

My card just got hacked yesterday and was attempting to buy $2000 of wool rugs.

But when they change the e-mail, shouldn't it send an e-mail to my old e-mail address to confirm?

In an ideal world, yes. In a bad world, no.

In an ideal world, yes. In a bad world, no.

Also assuming they did not hack this from the OS/DB level and did this by compromise/brute force of the normal login pages.

So I pulled my credit report after putting out an alert with the cr agencies, and I noticed something strange on my 'Record of Requests for your credit history"

I see a hit every time I took out a loan, opened a card, and once a year from my bank (possibly to increase my credit line?)

But THREE DAYS before they got access to my online account and took everything over, I see two hits from Amex (American Express Co and Amex Account Review). I suppose it could just be a coincidence, but it seems just a bit fishy.

Fraud Dept is closed till monday, but I called and spoke to a CS agent who told me nothing else has been opened up in my name, so thats good news I suppose.

Exact same thing happend to my friend a few weeks ago. They bought a bunch of stuff and then called a CC rep to change the address back to her address. They actually called the morning before she called! Craziness...

So now it looks like they got BOTH our Amex cards. Not only that, they SOMEHOW FREAKING CALLED AGAIN, and changed the addresses back to their address, so AMEX SHIPPED OUR NEW CARDS TO THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesus, this SUCKS.

 &

I would call their local police department and file a report. Wouldn't they enjoy a knock on the door from the po-po?
