He should have just retracted the auction before it ended then.

It looks like it's going to sell for 1/2 of what it's worth. Arrrgghhhh

I think the common logic is if it's high value, make a reserve of at least 70%. People will understand that there is a reserve on a pricy item. Don't be a puppet of the people and think "I'll get them here by saying no reserve. I'm a good guy." It's important to think about YOU when selling YOUR item. Buyers will understand.

Well if I wind up relisting it because someone out there didn't really want it (I love ATOT sometimes) I will definately have a reserve. I really thought it would be sought after.

Well, don't be too quick on relisting. I think someone will complain about relisting the iteam once they see the negative on the same item. Don't quote me on this but I think you may get your account suspended because your fraudently relisting an item. Have a friend sell it through another account or something. Take different pictures with different angles.
and colored rocks, you can find it on eeee-bayOriginally posted by: RedPickle

Can't end an auction with less than 12 hours to go now. The ebay system won't allow it.

since when?
i have been on ebay since 6/05 and never heard that you cannot. i know they say you cant, but they say you cant do a lot of things. is this new, that the system doesnt let that happen? Cause if it is, i am very curious as to the legalites of that.
Ebay touts itself as nothing more than a venue. they do not own anything. It is your property and therefore, cannot force you to sell your property. I know that I have ended an auction less than 12 hours before end. The software did not stop it.
I am very surprised to hear that they have changed their software like this. What does this mean to all the cars dealers that have listings and also sell on the lot. Does this mean that if someone shows up with a large pile of cash in person, they have to turn them away if they have the same vehicle autioned with less than 12 hours to go?
I am really curious about this whole... software wont let it thing. anyone know anymore? What messege comes up if tried?
When there are 12 hours or fewer remaining and the item has a winning bid, including a reserve met bid, sellers may not make any changes to the listing, including:
ending the item early. Sellers may cancel bids, but not end the item unless the item is being sold to the high bidder
adding to or changing the item description
converting the item to pre-approved bidder
Canceling bids or making changes to a listing with bids when there are 12 hours or fewer remaining damages the buyer experience and can undermine trust in the marketplace.
