Damned shotcut arrow icons in Win7

I've been trying every possible method to get rid of the shortcut arrow that places itself on all my shortcutted icons. Those little bastards are driving me nuts. I've tried at least 15 different methods I've found on google to get rid of them and nothing works. They're like bedbugs, can't be killed. I've installed multiple programs people said would work, edited the registry in many different ways that were recommended and they won't go away. Die shortcut arrows! I've always hated those things. Gotta be a simpler way to get rid of them, it shouldn't take an hour of work.

You really live up to your screen name. Until you mentioned this, I hardly noticed the arrows, which I like because I want to know whether I am dealing with the actual file or a shortcut to the file. Since you brought this to my attention, the little arrow shortcuts still don't bother me in the least. Slowly step away from the espresso.
