Everytime I try to bootup in Win2k (this is after installing my duron 600 / a7v over Celly II 850), I get a BSOD that says *Inaccessible Boot Device*. After first I thought this could be the Promise controller acting up on me, so I disabled it in the BIOS and I get the same error. I tried doing a win2k repair and still no dice. Is there anyway I can get around this? I have no problem reformatting my win2k partition but I would rather not. Thanks.

BTW, I booted up in WinME just fine after installing the 4 in 1 drivers and the Promise ultra drivers.

Did you previously have 2000 setup for the Celery and just replaced the celrey/mb combo with a duron/mb combo? If so, there are inherent chipset differences between the two that just booting 2000 won't be able to overcome. You will probably need to reinstall over your current installation to get it to work properly.

even if you disable the promise controller in the bios, both windows 98, and 2K will recognize it as a device. :)

thanks to plug n play.

the bios setting for the promise is whether or not you want to boot off it, there is no choice in disabling the promise controller !

Drak is right, Windows 2000 will not boot off of a hard disk that was setup using a different IDE controller and that is probably your problem. This CAN be overcome and I forget exactly how.... You must boot to the Win2k CD, then go as if you were going to reinstall, but you don't need to format and reinstall, just update or something... If you play around with it you should be able to figure it out. Good Luck
