So, I missed the delivery guy yesterday for a package I'm waiting on. They leave a note saying it will be delivered the next day after 5PM. O.k.
I go straight home after work and wait... and wait... and wait... They never show up! :(
WTH! I look up the tracking number and the status says "EXEPTION"

WTH does "EXCEPTION" mean! GRRRR :|

That means he would have delivered it except HE wanted it!

Well, I went back to do that and now... those bastards changed to Rescheduled Delivery for tomorrow. Oh well...

UPS has bad service compared to FedEx but one thing is for sure, UPS packages get here from CA a lot faster (Memphis, TN).

OK, here is what Exception means.

My aunt used to work at UPS and I had this exact problem a while back. Still have it every once in a while. So she called them to figure out what the real problem was since all the automated system on the intewebs said was Exception follows the next day by "rescheduled delivery".

And the phone lady back in like Atlanta Georgia was 0 help too.


Anyway. 3 things have been the problems for my exceptions.

1. From what we were told UPS tried to update their sorting/loading facilities a while back with automated machines. Something about them not working/scanning the packages right, so some times they would get left and never loaded on the truck.

2. The person who loads the truck does it wrong, packages are supposed to be loaded so as the guy runs his route the next package is set to be delivered. If your package is out of order on the truck then it's possible that he could run his route and then get to the end and find you package that is way out of place so he just returns to the main packing facility, hopefully the packer will get it right the next day.

3. "Rarely" happens but sometimes drivers "smoke" packages. Meaning they get lazy and just don?t deliver some of them for whatever reason even though everything was done right before hand. They make up some excuse and it get's delayed.

UPS system has no, "SORTER ERROR", "PACKER ERROR", "LAZY DRIVER" classifications on their website so you get the exception code.

I know it is a little frustrating.
