I'll try to be as short and to the point as possible.
1. Ordered knives 12/11/02 for $84 and some change. Since lost statement for this date, don't remember if the company charged the account or not.
2. On 12/11/03, same company charged bank account $119 and some change. (shows up on online statement) No product received for that charge, and no orders were even made either on this date from that company.
3. Ordered statement from back then from bank since didn't have statement in records.
4. Bank says have 60 days to dispute charge.
So it's common practice for a company to charge the account when the product ships. Is there any reason why the company would wait 1 year to charge his account (assuming they didn't charge the first time)? What do I need to do now? Is there anything I can do at all if it turns out that this charge isn't supposed to be on there?
Please, serious advice only. I don't want any "You live, you learn" or "That sucks" replies. Thank you.
Update:
Apparently it was the second half of the payment that we owed to the company. The knives (Miracle Blade if you must know) were sent as a trial basis and if we liked it, the second half would be charged. Why they charge it one whole year later, it beyond me. This is such a shady business practice. I called up customer service (long distance number also), was on hold for 25 minutes, and got an employee who didn't sound like he wanted to be there. After some disputes, he said he'll transfer me to a supervisor, but the mailbox was full and the call was dropped. I called again and this time got a supervisor after going through another CSR who didn't want to be there. After much debate, they finally agreed to credit back the charge. I took down her name, ID number, time of call, date of call, and details. NEVER order the Miracle Blades, as the customer service sucks, and they bill you ONE year later also. I told my parents to do their research first before any online purchases. Lesson learned.
