they agreed to repair the body damage and provide me with rental car during repairs... My question is should i get the body damage repaired at Toyota Dearler shop or a speicalized body repair shop?

Im in the Raleigh, NC area, if anyone know of a good place please let me know thanks....

the guy that drove my car was immediately taken to a drug testing facility...

:Q

i dunno whether to laugh or cry...not only can't they change oil, they can't drive.

ask around on the body shops, call couple of toyota dealers. it's not that bad - any competent shop can fix that. since personally, i take it to a toyota dealer body shop, since you're not going to be paying.

what have we learned today? lesson #1, don't take car to jiffy-lube.

Do it at the stealership.

And OMFG I'd be so pissed.

Reason #97834 why I will never go to a quick lube place.

I sometimes take my other car to jiffy lube when i'm busy but my new car which didnt get its first oil change no way.

Edit:
i dont want to hear them asking me about replacing the air filter and there special price..... come on its brand new!!!

Hah! And you wieners wonder I take the trouble to change my own oil? Did you happen to notice if the JiffyLuber bothered to lube anything while he was screwing around under there? Did he tighten the filter enough? Or, perhaps over tightened it, destroying the seal in the process? Ditto the drain plug?

In the time it took you to drive to these fvcktards, I'd have my car(s) oil changed and lubed right! Oh, and most likely I wouldn't drive the car into anything in the process. Hell, not to mention saving a few bucks and having some peace of mind.

I'm not sure what everyone is so pissed about. They made a mistake and are paying to fix it. Not sure where the huge problem is here. It sucks that you have to get it fixed, but at least it wont cost anything. you all need to lighten up.

Also, if they forget the oil plug and break your engine, they fix it. thats piece of mind, do it yourself and mess up, your screwed.

On the upside they used an airgun to replace the oil filter and drain plug, overtightening it so that by the time your car hit's 50,000 miles it will leak oil.

That isn't the point. It shouldn't happen in the first place.

And anybody smart enough to change their own oil would never make that mistake. And if they did, you would hope the huge puddle of oil on the ground would tip them off.

obviously it shouldnt happen, but it DOES happen. People shouldnt make mistakes during surgery, but it happens as well. When you service hundreds of cars a week some bad things will happen every once in a while.

I've never heard many bad things about Jiffy Lube. Cars can get damaged by employees anywhere. Dealership employees wreck cars too. I've seen it first hand.

I've worked both at a quick lube (not Jiffy Lube) and at dealerships, and we did way more to the car at the quick lube place than the mechanics at the dealers did when changing the oil. Often the dealership mechanics are lazy, old, and stuborn, and do the bare minimum when changing the oil since they're not getting paid much for that oil change, and they need to do as many as possible. Whereas the quick lube places specialize in that, and are trained to do everything required. Where I worked, the district mgr's often stopped by to make sure we were doing everything correctly. Whereas at the dealer I worked at (which often had mechanics rated in the top 10 of GM's rating thingy (been awhile, can't remember the name now)), they never checked to see what kind of a job the oil change guy back in the corner was doing. And who wants to wait 30+ minutes at a dealer for an oil change?
Occasionally we had contests (on mgmt's cars, not customers) at the quick lube with other of our stores in the region/district, to see who did it the quickest (but had to be complete and correct). With just a team of 3, we could change oil & filter, check all fluids, air filter, tires, clean windshield, etc on some cars (Mitsu Eclipse) and have them back in the car in 3 minutes.

BTW, to whomever mention they don't lube, most cars haven't had any lube points for years. They're sealed.

The only car we ever damaged were Mercedes, and it wasn't really our fault. Being the POS's they are, the drain plugs were made out of aluminum (if I remember), and the drain pan threads were fragile, and they often screwed up. We heard of other places having the same problems with them. Changing their oil filters (and probably air filters) sucked big time too. BTW, I've never heard of anyone using powered tools to change oil.?

I just moved to Raleigh NC recently and am not sure as far as a body shop. In fact as many rearenders as I have seen I also whondered who I would take it to if my old Buick got hit here, esp now that winter is coming up.

Make sure the Dealer even has a REAL body shop. Some dealers will say just drop it off and then take it to another shop and act as a middle man.

NEVER NEVER NEVER bring any car to any of those quick 10 minute oil change places. The majority of the time you will have a high school dropout working on your car, and as simple as an oil change may be, one can still screw up the ENGINE.

Is the drain bolt tight enough?
Did they over tighten it?

Is the oil filter snug?
Is it over tighten?
Did they lube the rubber seals before screwing on the filter?
Did they screw it on correctly and not cross-thread it? :Q
Did they fill up the oil correctly?
Did they use the RIGHT weight?

Granted, some of these are no brainers, but it'll only take an idiot a moment of retardation for him to screw up on one of those.

take it to the MOST expensive place you can find to repair it and make Jiffy lube pay for it 😀 and ahve fun with your rental 😛

i HATE jiffy lube. "oh you should have your transmission flushed, you should do it all the way."

me not knowing anything about my car (sigh strike 1) said ok fine.

car makes noises. i go "wtf." i call my dad. "honda engines require honda authentic oil." (strike 2)

i call up honda to reflush my transmission for 175 bucks. this is after the 120 bucks i paid them to flush my engine and change my oil.

i am NEVER going to jiffy lube ever again. all oil changes since have been done at the dealer.
