I just installed the Windows XP 64 bit Beta on my athlon 64 computer.

I use an Intel NIC, and Intel doesn't have any AMD64 drivers for download!

Now I have to go search and see if I have any older NICs in other computers.

I actually hoped that Microsoft might have native drivers for it since the NIC has been available for about a year.

Anyway, I found an older Intel NIC and also a 3Com, i'll give them both a try and see what results I get.

How about linux ? NM, I'll leave it at that because I don't want to start a flame war.

You mean there are athlon 64 boards that don't have nic's built in? I thought almost all new boards come with them...

It does have an onboard NIC, however I don't see any 64 bit drivers at viaarena.com for it. Bah.

Not even the 3com NIC worked.

I'm just going to install fedora linux.

Nope, sorry, linux loses.

Fedora can't see the serial ATA controller.

Back to XP Pro 32-bit for now, maybe later I'll download the 64bit fedora test and try it on a regular ATA/100 hard drive but I don't have the patience for it right now.

Via Hyperion Drivers for all 64bit x86 Chipsets

For all VIA x86 64 bit chipsets using Microsoft? Windows 64 bit Operating Systems

This driver is beta only. This package contains the drivers for Windows XP 64 and Windows Server 2003 64 bit only, supporting the components for K8T800 North Bridge and VT8237 South Bridge as follows:

VIA Audio driver for integrated controller
VIA V-RAID, RAID utility and SATA driver
VIA IDE Port driver
VIA AGP controller driver
VIA Inf driver
If your system features the K8T800 chipset but you are not using Windows XP 64 or Windows Server 2003 64 bit, please use the latest VIA Hyperion 4in1 drivers (above).

/edit: found these drivers on my lowly 32bit system. I rule the extra 32bits are overkill for you. Therefore you must forfeit your system to me.

Those drivers seem to cover everything EXCEPT the NIC :(

Ah, nevermind then, I guess I don't get your 64bit stuff. So close yet so far.

Anyway, any chance you hadn't tried them and perhaps it's just not mentioned?

Actually I found that my motherboards onboard nic is a 3Com 3C940. Doesn't help though, because I still don't see any 3com NIC drivers for windows XP 64 bit.

Ahh, found a working driver, thanks. It's working now, mostly, windows update is broken though. I think i'm going to reinstall and see if that fixes it.
