so I just moved into my apartment 5 months ago and signed up for dish and their dvr and love it. i just got a nice HDTV and want to continue but want the HD channels that dish offers. no problem, except for the fact that their crappy hardware for the dish hdtv dvr is 700, bastards.

Any HD DVR/;Tivo is going to be 500-700 bucks.

I'm still waiting for HD Tivo to drop below 300. It'll happen in a year or so.

I just signed up to lease a standard (non-DVR) HDTV receiver from them. It's cheap enough to lease, though I wish I could lease the DVR version that cheaply.

i just signed up with comcast, they are giving a great deal.

basically giving me their plat. package for half price with hd cahnnels and dvr.

cant be beat.

Most DVRs cannot record HD content. Dish and DTV practically give away standard DVRs. But HD DVRs are expensive still.
