Since 08 hit I have discovered Cheesecake, I didn't ever thing I liked it before now. But damn it I do, I went to Cheesecake Factory last night around 11:30PM and got a slice of the Peanutbutter Fudge whatever the hell is it. HOLY SHIT it was good! But HOLY SHIT it was $7.50 for one slice! It was a decent size slice but damn I will go broke with this addiction.

I've check the local Supermarkets and while they have Cheesecake for much less, they don't have anything this good. And I don't just mean quality wise, I mean the type of Cheesecake that's loaded with everything from fudge to Butterfinger chunks to pieces of Recese Peanut Butter Cups. I don't remember the exact $$$ but the price for the whole thing, but I believe it was in the $70 range.

Where does one get good Cheesecake for less cash? I don't expect to find the same thing I had last night for $20 bucks, but if I could find a similar whole Cheesecake for 1/2 the price I would be happy.

Cheesecake is one of the best things about being alive...Cheesecake Factory is good enough to warrant the price.

A single meal from the Cheesecake Factory can feed an entire African village for two months.

Seriously, their serving portions are immense. I never leave that place without a doggy-bag or five.

One of my sister's clients makes the best cheesecake ever, yes I like it better than CF. She sells them for 15 or 20 bucks, but they are like an orgasm in your mouth.

Add in generous helping of real Vanilla extract and a small amount of grated lemon rind - burst of flavor

I used to work at a steakhouse, and they decided to make their own cheesecakes. During one experimental batch, someone accidentally used salt instead of sugar.

...a small crumb was all I needed to taste to figure that one out.

They are not THAT easy to make. It's take a bit of cooking know how to to it, but i suppose you can say that with anything.

My special cheesecake is Peanut Butter Cheesecake with Peanut Butter Brownie crust. I don't think I have had a single person say it was too much. In fact people ask me to make it. But that was after two weeks of being in the kitchen every night trying to get the formula right. Needless to say, there were many mistakes, but oddly there were always people to make the mistakes go away.

On to the topic of the OP, I like the carrot cake. It is awesome.

Make your own. If you keep making them you'll eventually get good at it and learn how to make something better than CF.

They are not THAT easy to make. It's take a bit of cooking know how to to it, but i suppose you can say that with anything.

first one i tried was delicious and is dead simple. oven to 300F

crush some graham crackers, mix with some melted buttah (and i use a little cinnamon) and form into the bottom of a spring-form pan ( i cover the underside in foil, to help keep water out)

mix 3 eggs, 2C cream cheese, 1C sour cream, 1tsp vanilla, some grated lemon rind, 3/4C sugar, a pinch of salt together for the filling

put larger pan on oven shelf, add cracker-bottomed spring-form pan, add filling, pour simmering water into large pan to create a water-bath, bake for an hour.

let cool for 1-2 hours, chill for 4 hours MINIMUM

eat.

its really, really easy.

yes except its a pie

I will hunt you down. I will find you and I will put delicious cheesecake in front of you but not let you eat any (not even one bite!) until you admit it is CAKE!

OP: Costco's cheesecake is pretty decent. So is Trader Joe's. That's where I go for my inexpensive cheesecake fix. I don't think they have fancy stuff though.

Alright, maybe i'm making it a bit more complicated....

1 package Duncan's Peanut Butter Brownie mix
3 packages CC
3 eggs
2 cups Sour Cream
1 cups sugar
1 tbsp vanilla
1.5 cups Peanut Butter

1) Prepare brownie per directions on box, bake til 50% complete in 10-inch spring form pan (about 20ish minutes).
2) mix CC, Sour Cream, sugar and vanilla.
3) Slowly mix in eggs one at a time.
4) Whip mixture til light and airy, then add peanut butter.
5) Take out brownie, then pour cheese cake filling into pan.
6) bake to completion, cool to room temp, then chill over night.

It took you until 2008 to discover cheesecake?

I wonder how long it will take you to discover Tiramisu...

thats not even that difficult. its all a bunch of throwing things in a mixer, then a pan. angel food cake or a souffle is closer to "difficult" though...if the brownie is half-done, what do you do with it?

it involves many steps, which may make it complicated, but difficult implies that it is hard...my mother can make a cheesecake, and she cant cook for her life. (sorry mom)

No, you put it in the coconut, THEN you put it in the cheesecake.
