Something like that that it can't load from the disc. WTF? I burned it twice just to be sure, but it's still getting the error.

Hey, thanks for hosing up 2 windows 2000 installations!

Even though I paid for RC1, guess I have to go find a warez site to get a proper iso eh? Since I probably won't be able to redownload it

did you run the CRC.exe on the ISO and check it ?
I kept getting some error messages after burning and trying to install from bootable cdrom, i finally decided to boot from the cdrw that i created it with and all went well, I also slowed down the burner to 4X although i think it was the crappy cdrom i was trying to boot from

The .iso was fine.

However, the CDRom wasn't.

I checked more in depth on their site and with nero you HAVE to finalize the session and do disc at once (though I don't know the importance of disc at once since there's one track.. but I did it anyway).

CRC'd the new cdrom and it appears ok, going to try to install it yet again.

I have a similar problem, burned with Nero. Wouldn't get past a point. I checked the file that it hung on on the CD and there was space for characters in the file but the file was blank, like all spaces. I downloaded Sony CD Extreme and burned with that and installed XP perfectly first time. I also searched around the web and found that Nero seems to do that. Sony CD Extreme is free. You can get it from the Sony site. I don't have Nero anymore.

I believe that piece of software is for Sony drives ONLY. Good if you own a sony I suppose. I guess that factors in the risk of having to buy a piece of sony equipment though. I'll gladly take Nero instead :D

I suppose I'll just have to close out every session and finalize every iso I burn. At least the problem was solved

The Sony software works on any cd. I have an AOpen and it works great. Never a problem. Writes at 12X when Nero skipped some data under same conditions. I never touch my computer or have anything running in the background when I write a cd. This problem was described by a few other individuals on the web and they switched to the Sony software and solved the problem. Worked for me to. I use the Sony software all the time now.

For Nero close the wizard if it opens when you launch Nero and then go File>Burn Image>leave everything set at default>then it goes to the burn window.

I was trying to install it and it kept on giving the error 'unmountable root volume". I will try to use something other than nero....

3/4 of the way through the install, it tells me I am missing some files.
I guess the first thing to do is check the ISO file with crc..uh, exactly how do you do that?

Good luck. I followed the instructions cpars link provided, and Nero burned it fine. So far, so good. :D

Mrburns2007: In nero, the problems were because I left everything at default (which I usually do) and since Disc at once and Close session weren't something I normally have at default, it didn't like it and messed up the WinXP iso.

I'll get the Sony software, just to have I suppose, but now that I figured out the windows xp ISO, Nero is still the software I'll use all the time.
