DAMN VOLUME CONTROL

Hi,

I can't seem to figure out why one of the most useful system tray icons, the volume control would sometimes appear and sometimes not appear in my system tray. It is very annoying and sometimes I'm just sick of using my keyboard shortcut keys to change the volume or mute it.

In the control panel under Sounds and Audio Devices, under the volume tab, I have the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" option checked.

I've also gone to taskbar properties and has gone to the matching icons and selected to "always show" that icon.

So, what is going on?

Thanks in advance.

Just go buy a logitech keyboard or something similar with a volume control knob/slider on it and call it good.

the only times i've seen it disappear are when explorer crashes or if a multimedia suite replaces it (and occasionally when sound drivers 'crash').

does a reboot always cure it?
