Damn, this GeForce MX rocks

Coolness, I'm real happy with mine too. I got the Hercules retail, works real nice. Of course, I was upgrading from a tnt2 m64 / V2 SLI rig, so just about anything is a plus (except for Tribes... but I guess I play more Counterstrike than Tribes these days.)

I had a RIVA TNT, which I bought back in 1998. In mid '99, I owned a Savage 4, but I got rid of that when I upgraded to Windows 2K (because of the horrid drivers). So I went back to the RIVA TNT. I upgraded to a E-VGA GeForce MX 32MB. I haven't really experimented with overclocking yet, but from what I've heard it overclocks fairly well. The card comes with a heatsink, no TV out, and no fan, in case you were wondering. I got it for $107 (not including s/h)

Would a GeForce2 MX be a big upgrade for a TNT2 Ultra?

Heh, I play only Counter-Strike.

Actually counterstrike and team fortress play more than 60 fps smooth on a old voodoo2 so yeah heh heh it would be quite a step up.

The difference between a TNT2 Ultra and a Geforcemx is 2 extra pipelines, Nvidia Shader&Rasterizer engine, Gigatexel fill rates, and more!

Get the MX 😀

Ls3,
I just replaced my Diamond V770 Ultra with the Prophet II MX and my 3dmark score at 1024x768x16 went from 3720 to 5371 at the same o/c speed (175/206).
Not bad for a $120 card. 🙂🙂🙂

the geforce mx does rock but it doesn't work well with Athlon, because i just got my $hit up and my MX doesn't do well with the Athlon 750 i have.

athlon 750
abit Ka7
256 MB
EVGA-Geforce 2 MX
soundblaster x-gamer
8x4x24x yamaha
10x Toshiba DVD
20gig maxtor 7200

Finally, someone answers my question, cool. . .

Of course though, if you have the bucks, you should go for a GeForce DDR or GeForce2 GTS?

My MX and T'Bird seem to like each other....
I have a leadtek with the tv out, haven't tried the tv yet though.
I have clocked the RAM upto 221 (haven't tried higher yet) and Clock upto 218 (dosen't like the clock any higher than this)....Seemed to run everything great. I'm very happy with it.

Waiting for my ordered Geforce2 MX (upgrade from TNT1)so looking forward to the speed increase on my 900T-Bird,I know I should of got a faster card but it`s a stop gap until the NV20 comes out.

🙂

i just go to anadtech.com read a review about asus v7100, and the anand did the test on p3-550 with all the geforce card include the geforce2 ultra! when i see the fps for quake3 arena, the geforce2 ultra just has 102 fps on 640X480X16, my asus v7700( not overlock) have 119,4 on that resolution about another resolution my v7700 still can beat the gts2 ultra butttt on my p3-800@1000mhz, so i can make the conclusion, the cpu is very important too we can not ignore it!

=====================
p3-800@1000mhz 1.75 v
asus cusl2 1001.1
256 hyundai pc133
asus v7700 ( default ) denator 6.18

correction here! 😛 my v7700 on p3-800@1000 can not beat gts2 ultra on quakeIII high quality (32bit) 😛

Yes at low resolutions the CPU is the bottleneck. At high resolutions the video card is. As long as you are not exceeding the fillrate/memory bandwidth of the video card, you will see your fps scale nicely with a faster CPU.
