Thieves recently took a weed trimmer and two nail guns from my shed. Tsk. Tsk. I gotta install a surveillance system now.

I called the town police to ask if there have been similar incidents in my block recently and wanted to let them know of the incident. The lady on the line just said bluntly that burglaries happen everywhere everyday. Tsk. I guess they can't help me with that.

Wow that sucks, and the cops wont even do anything about it? Guess it sure is time to install cameras, and traps, though the stupid thing is that traps are illegal, but apparently burglary is not, if cops wont do anything, so burglars win in this case. :/

If you install cameras you'd pretty much have to watch it from work and if you catch someone you'd have to go "shoo" them and hope they run off, and that they don't have a gun. Though if I saw thieves on my property think my natural instict would involve more then just "shoo". It would probably involve blunt objects to their head, repeatedly.

A surveillance system seams like an overkill in your case.

How about a padlock on your shed?

Was your shed locked?

Unfortunately, it wasn't. I was too reliant on it being inside the fence. Plus, I figured my dog would alert us of anyone in the backyard, but I didn't hear a single bark. I'm upgrading my defenses this week.

The shed already has a lock, but I just felt safe with it being inside the fence, so I didn't bother locking it. Plus, most of my tools are actually in the garage. I only have the mower, blower, and trimmer in the shed.

It was just recently that we started putting stuff in it due to a remodeling project. I feel bad and stupid because two of the tools that were stolen were borrowed.

Yep.

The other half decided to file a formal report, so a cop actually came. He was a really nice fellow and gave me some tips on how to protect the shed. He said that shed break-ins are common in the area, but my specific neighborhood is fairly safe. I'm not expecting to recover the items, but I appreciate the police coming over and taking some info.
